Rolls-Royce Reveals RR4 Sedan First Images

ROLLS-ROYCE has revealed the first images of its new entry-level model line codenamed the RR4, the engineering development program for which is fully underway.

Signed off in 2007, the RR4's more dynamic and youthful exterior design was revealed today in the UK via two styling sketches that clearly show a radically low-slung four-door sedan with Rolls-trademark long bonnet, super-short overhangs and an impossibly narrow daylight opening beneath a sleek, near-flat roofline.

The as-yet-unnamed fourth new-generation model to be developed by the historic British brand under BMW ownership follows the Phantom sedan, convertible and coupe, which has entered production after it appeared at Geneva in March.

Smaller and more affordable than the V12-powered Phantom sedan, which carries a $915,000 sticker price here, the "baby" Roller is expected to be priced between $400,000 and $500,000 when it does on sale globally in 2010.

The RR4 will be built on a separate new production line to the Phantom model series at its "completely reconfigured" Goodwood manufacturing facility, which will also feature extended paint, wood and leather shops and next year adds a second shift as full production gears up.via

Tips For Buying Quality Used Car

The majority of quality used cars have a wealth of Quality Used Cardistinctive features, depending on the make and model. From aftermarket accessories to stock amenities, nothing compares to what luxury vehicles can deliver.

As far as finding quality used cars is concerned, you won't find a better selection or the kinds of savings that can be had online. You don’t need to travel to countless dealerships, waste precious gas and more precious time at all, you can find a trove of luxury vehicles online. You can choose from a host of the most popular and respected manufacturers - all waiting at your fingertips. Scroll through a plethora of luxury vehicles built by such manufacturers as Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Saab, Honda, and more. After finding the car that matches your needs, off course you have to check it out. Here are some tips to bear in mind while buying your used car:

* Stand at the front, or the back of the car, and look along the body line. You will be able to see if it has had any body damage as the light reflecting off the side of the car will show the dents or replaced panels.

* Check around the window rubbers for over spray, a sure fire way to see if a car as been touched up

* Check the gaps between the panels to make sure they are even on both sides of the car. Bonnet to wing etc. This is a good indication as to whether the car has been in an accident and had panels replaced.

* Check the tires for uneven wear, if the tires are worn more on one side than the other its an indication that the car may have been in an accident and the chassis is twisted. It could also be the tracking or wheel balancing. Either way its not a good sign.

* Have a look at the interior of the car, does the wear inside the car look in keeping with the mileage. If the car looks like its done 100,000 and the clock says 25,000. Then you know its been round the clock, or even worse clocked. Check the steering wheel, and accelerator pedal rubber for excessive wear, the clutch and brake pedal rubbers can be replaced, but the accelerator pedal is a lot harder to change, and will give a truer indication of mileage.

* Drive the car in all gears to check the gearbox., and check for any knocks or strange noises. Check the steering for vibration, or pulling to one side, its an indication again that the car may have been in an accident.

* It's also a good idea to get the car HPI checked. This will tell you if the car has been stolen, been in an and accident, or is on finance. Checking safety and reliability reports are a must. Detailed mechanical inspection records are available for your perusal as well.

Never buy a car without doing these checks first, By following these rules when buying a used car you wont go far wrong.via

$150K For HSV W427

THE price of the Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) HSV W427 carW427 supercar has increased steeply before it has even gone on sale.

HSV estimated a price of “$130,000-plus” for the 7.0-litre super-sedan when it was unveiled at the Melbourne International Motor Show in March.

Now, HSV management has revised pricing for the car, which is expected to become a collector’s item, saying it will cost somewhere between $150,000 and $170,000.

HSV managing director Scott Grant admitted to GoAuto this week that the company wanted to measure what type of price potential customers would pay, given that demand appears strong.

We are throwing out a price and testing the market acceptance for that point,” Mr Grant said, adding that HSV also had to ensure the W427 project was profitable.

“These programs have to make sense from a business point of view. We have got a substantial investment in that program. It is not going to be a high-volume car, it is going to be quite a unique car, and I think there is a place for that car in the market,” he said.more...

Proton Will Launch A ‘Persona-fied’ Gen.2 With A New Name

PROTON Cars Australia will banish its Gen.2 Protons Persona-fied Carnameplate in September, when a facelifted version of the small hatch arrives wearing Persona badges.

More importantly for fans of the Lotus-engineered five-door, Proton will most likely offer a higher-performance version of the Persona hatch, to counteract criticism that today’s Gen.2 engine lacks low-speed responsiveness.

The standard "Persona Hatch" model will use a modified version of the current 1.6-litre CamPro twin-cam 16-valve four-cylinder petrol engine incorporating a new and more efficient inlet manifold design known as IAFM.more...

Land Rover 60th Anniversary

HOLDEN is not the only vehicle brand that Land Rover Freelander Carcelebrates its 60th birthday this year, with April 30 marking the six-decade anniversary of the first Land Rover’s world public debut at the 1948 Amsterdam motor show.

To mark the occasion, more than 2000 Land Rover enthusiasts from as far afield as the UK, US and Denmark – as well as every Australian state and territory – converged on the Snowy Mountains town of Cooma at Easter.

Cooma has been described as the soul of LR in Australia because more than 250 Land Rovers were imported between 1949 and 1974 to help realise what is billed as the nation’s largest engineering feat - the Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Scheme, which took 25 years to complete and brought water and power to south eastern Australia via 16 dams, seven power stations and 225 km of tunnels.more...

More Equipment For Mercedes-Benz CLS

Not content with revealing full pricing and Mercedes-Benz CLSspecifications for its reskinned CLC-class compact coupe, redesigned C-class Estate and facelifted SL convertible in the space of about a week, Mercedes-Benz has now done the same for the first facelift of its sexy and successful CLS.

The big E-class-based CLS pioneered the four-door "coupe" craze in 2004, arriving in Australia in June 2005 in 200kW/350Nm CLS350 V6, 225kW/460Nm CLS500 V8 and 350kW/700Nm CLS55 AMG supercharged V8 guises.

In October 2006, the flagship of the 219-series CLS was upgraded to employ the same ballistic 6.2-litre V8 that will also be fitted to the facelifted SL, and that has proven so effective in the C, CLK, E, S, CL and ML-class AMG models.more...
